Choosing a voice AI platform

Teams that build a voice AI agent pick from three types of product. Each type moves a different part of the work to the vendor. This page lists what your team builds or runs with each type.

The three types

TypeExamplesWhat you get
Framework that you code and hostLiveKit Agents, PipecatOpen-source libraries for the voice pipeline. You write the agent in code and run it.

Managed customer-conversation platformMoveoHosted AI Agents for voice, chat and email, with handover, inbox, analytics and campaigns.

What your team builds or runs

The table shows who owns each part of a production voice agent. "You" means your team builds, hosts or integrates it.

Choose Moveo when

  • Voice is one channel of your customer service, next to chat, email and messaging.
  • Human agents take over from the AI Agent, and you need one place for their work.
  • You call contact lists with campaigns, for example for payment recovery.
  • Non-developers build and change the AI Agent in the console.
  • You test every change with simulations and release it as a version.
  • You use Twilio or Telnyx for telephony.

Choose a framework or an API when

  • You want to own and change the code of every step of the pipeline.
  • You must run the agent on your own servers.
  • You need a telephony provider other than Twilio or Telnyx.
  • You need a speech provider that is not in the speech models list.
  • You need a fallback chain of language models on calls. On Moveo, the Voice channel of the model strategy uses one model only.
  • You build a voice-only product, and you do not need an inbox, campaigns or other channels.
